Cyprus Travel Document Guide

By news desk on September 06,2007

Citizens of the USA, UK, Canada, Australia and the EU carrying valid national passports do not need visas for south Cyprus, and can stay for upto months. Carry a valid passport, unless you’re from an EU country which has a transport treaty with Cyprus and you need only a current form of ID.

The immigration deal is somewhat complicated here, due to the green line. Crossing over from the Greek Republic to the Turkish south is allowed only if going on a "day trip" from Nicosia. You cannot carry luggage across the border, – the Cypriots are serious about their rules – if you get late returning back from the north, you will be blacklisted and possibly forbidden from entering Cyprus ever again.
