Recommended Tourist Excursions In Georgia

Hiking and trekking in the Greater Caucasus in the north and the Lesser Caucasus in the south was popular with the adventure minded. Unfortunately much of the best trekking terrain is now in the breakaway province of Abkhazia (as are the best beach resorts). If you decide to go ahead with a trek in the Georgian mountains, do take a guide along and go in a group.

If you decide instead to head east, then you are in for a delightful amount of wine tasting. There are wineries with cellars full of the mellow stuff all along the main Kakhetian highway, as part of an organised group or otherwise, you can tour the region going from cellar door to cellar door sipping the goods.
