Atithi Devo Bhavah means Guest is God in Sanskrit. Hospitality of Indian people is very well known. They are freindly and kind towards any visitors/guests. Tradition ad ritual, among Indian people state they belong. Every state have a unique distinct style of everything, be it language, food, dressing, dance, songs etc. But there is one thing common among all these people, they treat their guests as god himself, 'Athidhi Devo Bhava'.
Ministry of Tourism seeks to make Indians more tourist-friendly. The campaign will involve sensitisation, screening, induction, training and orientation, certification and feedback of key stakeholders of the Indian tourism industry, including taxi drivers, tourist guides, operators, immigration officers, tourist police and others who have direct interaction with inbound tourists. Atithi Devo Bhava will roll out in a phased manner over three years, with Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Goa and Aurangabad being covered.
India's tourism ministry has started a programme to sensitise and train participants of the tourism industry to show more courtesy and to display sensitivity to the needs of tourists. It has named the initiative Atithi Devo Bhavah, which is an ancient Indian dictum meaning "Guest is a God". The term will develop as a brand, to certify that a service provider ensures a certain minimum level of quality. Look out for the badge or sticker with these words when you are searching for taxi drivers, tour operators, etc
