By Air
Pakistan’s national carrier has regular connections to 35 domestic airports and daily flights between major cities.
By Road
There are bus links to most destinations, though the roads are difficult, especially along the mountain routes. Private vans, taxis, auto rickshaws, tongas (horse and carriage), wagons, jeeps and rented cars can also be used for inland travel.
Air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned and deluxe buses, vans and coaches regularly ply between major cities and tourist destinations. Cars can be hired at any of the International Airports or travel agencies operating in large hotels. For self-driven rented cars, you need a valid driving licence and you must be above 21 years of age. Many agencies refuse to rent a self-driven car to travellers over 60 years. In the major cities, the yellow-metered taxis are available for local travel. Traffic drives on the right.
By Train
Pakistan has an extensive rail link, though they do not service the mountain regions. It is best to travel first class or in specially attached Tourist Cars, which are quite affordable.
