Travellers from most countries require visas for entry into Pakistan. The regular visa allows entry up to six months from the date of issue and you can stay up to three months from the date of arrival. Visa exemptions include:

    *

      Nationals of Tonga and Trinidad & Tobago;
    *

      Holders of British passports issued to British Dependent Territories citizens in Hong Kong, nationals of Maldives Republic, Singapore, South Africa (Muslims with a landing permit and return ticket), South Korea and Zambia for a stay of 90 days or less;
    *

        Nationals of Nepal and Western Samoa for a stay of 30 days or less;
    *

      Nationals of Thailand holding return tickets for a maximum stay of 15 days;

Passengers continuing their journey to a third country within 24 hours, by the same or the first connecting flight and do not leave the airport. They must hold tickets with reserved seats and all documents for their next destination.

If you arrive without a visa, you will get a 30-day landing permit, which can be upgraded, to a 3-month entry visa at one of the Regional passport offices in Pakistan.

Landing Permit is not granted to nationals of Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iraq, Israel, Libya, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Serbia, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen and foreign nationals of Indian origin. If you belong to any of these countries, you need a visa, before your arrival in Pakistan, issued by the Regional Passport Office of the Pakistani Embassy closest to you.

Tourists passing through regular entry check posts do not need further road permits to travel from province to province. For visiting certain restricted areas, however, special permission has to be secured.

Tourists staying for 30 days or less don’t require Police registration. Those who wish to stay more than 30 days have to register at the District Foreigners’ Registration Office within 30 days of arrival.

Visitors from India, Taiwan and Afghanistan need to get the Police Registration done within 24 hours of their arrival.

Israelis are not allowed into the country, even on transit. Nationals of Afghanistan who have previously visited or transitted through India are not allowed entry.

Please read the circular attached to your visa for further details of dos and don’ts while you are in the country.
