Getting Around Angkor Wat: Transport Guide

By news desk on October 26,2007

image
From Siem Reap, there are taxis and a bus that make the trip to the temple complex, only a few km from the city or you can hire a bike or car and drive yourself. Cycling is a great way to go to the Angkor complex as you travel past paddy fields and houses on stilts. The only fly in the ointment is that one must stick to the well-travelled roads- and on no account stray off, as the area was extensively land mined by the Khmer Rouge and later by the Cambodian army. Though the area has been cleared by UN peacekeepers, it still is wise to stick to the tried and tested.
