Shopping Guide For Phnom Penh

By news desk on October 26,2007

image
There are three main shopping centres in Phnom Penh that are good places to hunt for some of the traditional artwork of Cambodia. They are the Central Market, the Russian Market and the Tuol Tum Pong Market. Another good place is the gift shop at Wat Thanh in Phnom Penh, that is a part of a cooperative that trains Cambodians disabled by land mines in various crafts that are later on sold at this outlet. Some good buys include small purses, bags, clothes made from hand woven fabrics. If you are in the market for some of Cambodia’s fine quality rubies, sapphires and emeralds then make sure you go to only licensed and registered gemstone dealers, as there is a major trade in substandard and fake gemstones.
