Jakarta Travel Guide

Indonesia’s capital city, Jakarta, is a separate administrative region in its own right, and is situated on the north coast of West Java. It’s not only the centre of the country’s commercial, social and political life, but also one of Indonesia’s most vibrant and interesting cities. From the point of view of a tourist, the best thing about Jakarta is that it’s got a little bit of everything- history, culture, recreational facilities, shopping. It’s also one of Indonesia’s main gateways to the rest of the country, and most tourists coming to the country end up spending at least a day or two in the capital. It’s a place worth seeing- there are lots of amusement parks, monuments, gardens and markets. What’s more, a number of Indonesia’s popular tourist spots are not too far from Jakarta, so you can actually make it the base for excursions and expeditions to other parts of the country.
