Pennag Shoping Guide

By news desk on November 02,2007

Georgetown is quite good for shopping- it’s got plenty of shops, large and small, catering to all tastes. The heart of Georgetown, a complete shopping-and-recreational centre called Kom Tar, is probably the best known for its shopping complexes- but these are places where you must bargain; start by cutting prices down by half.

Georgetown is also known for its street bazaars, set up both by day and by night along roads like Jalan Penang, Lebuh Chulia and Lebuh Pantai Pasar Chowrasta. Here you can usually buy some very good local stuff at low prices. And if you’re not particular about getting your hands dirty, visit one of Georgetown’s famous `junk shops’ along Rope Walk. Although you might have to sort through some very dusty stuff, you’ll probably manage to unearth some interesting treasures.
