Getting Around Yangon: Transport Guide

By news desk on November 09,2007

Moving between hotels and destinations can be a bit of an adventure. You can go by cabs buses, horse carts or even the much slower trishaw. Buses are full to the brim with locals carrying all manners of goods from vegetables to live chickens and are not always the most dependable form of transport. Ferries ply on the Ayeryarwady and can take you to some of the outlying places – they are a good way to see the countryside but be warned, even the ferries can be crowded. Hiring a car with a driver who can double as a guide is definitely the best way to get in and around Yangon.
