Weekend Getaways From Yangon

A little outside Yangon, enroute to the airport, is the Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda, which has a reclining Buddha statue- all of 72 metres long. Further out, you could make a day’s trip to the interesting Thwante  pottery village across the Yangon River, or to Bago, 80 km away, and a sometime-grand city: today it doesn’t have all that much to offer, but there are some visitable pagodas within the city.
