Major Attractions In Chiang Mai

By news desk on November 13,2007

One of Chiang Mai’s main landmarks, the golden-spired Wat Prathat Doi Suthep temple sits atop a mountain peak.

It’s a much-visited temple - the most important pilgrimage centre of northern Thailand, and is quite opulent, with gold and red ornamentation and beautiful murals depicting scenes from ancient Buddhist texts.

The beautiful Phuping Palace is the summer residence of the royal family. The palace is large and ornate and has some beautifully landscaped gardens.

The Siam Silverware Factory is one of north Thailand’s better-known crafts; you can buy some really nice silverware in Chiang Mai- vases, figurines, and more.

The Hill Tribe Museum has a good collection of artefacts related to the tribes, which live in the north country- arts and crafts, antiques, etc. It’s a good place to visit if you’re interested in learning more about the local people.
