Shopping Overview In Pattaya

Pattaya is fast catching up with Bangkok and Chiang Mai as one of the major shopping centres of Thailand. Although the range of items available isn’t as vast as in Bangkok, with a little bit of effort you can find some good bargains. All of Thailand’s best buys- silks, jewellery, tailored clothing and handicrafts- is available in Pattaya. The place is particularly good for buying gemstones - the main reason for this is that Chanthaburi, the centre of gem mining industry, is quite close to Pattaya.  The Thailand Duty Free Shop (TDFS) and pre-order centre  is at Alcazar in Pattaya, so if you wish you can have your purchases forwarded directly to the airport for you to collect when you depart from Thailand.
