Recommended Activities In Izmir

Take a dip in a thermal spa – the best is in Balcova. The Yamanlar Camligi is a pine forest near the lovely Lake Karagol (40km northeast of Karsiyika) ideal for picnics complete with restaurants and a swimming pool. Belkahve is the highest point above Izmir and overlooks the Gulf of Izmir – it is a relaxing place to sip a cup of Turkish coffee. This used to be Ataturk’s favourite haunt! The very popular holiday centre of Ilica boasts of an excellent white, sandy beach and he outstanding facilities of the Altin Yunus Marina and Holiday Complex. The bay here is ideal for water sports, especially windsurfing and sailing. If you are sailing the Aegean, anchor at Alcati – it is peaceful and relaxing. There is a good beach southeast of the town.
