Adventure Tourism has been recently converted into one of the most important activities in regards to tourist circuits around the world. Far away from the urbanised centres, the contact with nature, the peacefulness of a landscape and the unevenness of a terrain entrust the traveller into a different perspective from which to understand the surrounding world and to re-discover himself. This is the main reason for the inviting attitude that prevails in Cordoba, as well as in all the territory of Argentina, for recreational and educational tours within its natural areas in order to achieve a conscience regarding the importance of their preservation. This tourist alternative has created a way of thinking, wherein everything is constantly being rediscovered. Some of the facts which are usually overlooked in the every-day life acquire a new relevance. The skies, the fresh and pure air, the water and every living creature will be the agents to attain a new meaning in the way of perceiving the world, in order to live the vacations in an utterly different manner. The activities performed within this tourist current can also be in common grounds with other alike endeavours, although always keeping in mind to show due respect for the places they are done into. Mountaineering, trekking, horse riding and mountain bike are only some of the possible activities that could be performed among the steep and unmatched paths this Province stores for the visitor. But there are also the nautical sports to be performed over the uncounted rivers, streams and man-made lakes which are strewn all over the region. And its correct counterpart, the direct observation, by sight or by sound of the animal and plant wildlife that exist in any area, depending on the time of the year. The paraglide finds its natural space upon the viewing point of Cuchi Corral, located in a 400 metre high depression over the Valley of the Pintos River, close to the locality of La Cumbre. A circuit known as Turismo Minero (Mining Tourism), which consists in visiting natural caves and caverns, along with several cavities modified by men following a scientific and cultural interest. And example of this is the Caves of Ongamira, at only a few kilometres after Capilla del Monte. Nevertheless, one of the innovating tourist activities the traveller should not miss is the ‘Hunting’ of animals, plants or even landscapes armed with a photographic or video camera. It also includes the recording of sounds in their natural habitat, as bird songs, water flowing or only the sound of wind blowing. |
