If you are staying at St. John’s, Fort James is the nearest beach. However, this is a moody beach with the water sometimes rough and clam and pleasant at other times. This is a popular weekend spot for both the locals and the tourists. However, be careful, as the beach is full of drug users. A bit further is Dickenson bay that is prettier but the smell from the sewage pump nearby may put you off. You can rent glass bottom boats to admire the beautiful coral reef. You can also hire water sports equipment on the beach. Soldier’s Bay is a picturesque beach with shallow waters perfect for splashing around. Deep Bay is another beautiful beach but it can only be reached by a car or taxi as is with Galleon Beach. Trafalgar beach is a small sheltered bay where sophisticated condominiums are being built. If you’re looking for tranquillity, Galley bay and Half Moon Bay is where you’ll find it. Most of the beaches have beach bars that offer good food. About 17 miles of spectacular, isolated sands with lovely blue waters wash the shores of Barbuda. However, if you on an exploration spree, be sure to wear hats and carry enough sunscreen. The only shady beach is Palm Beach that’s lined with palm trees, but is unfortunately is quite dirty. Also, food is a problem as none of the beaches have any restaurants or bars. At Palmetto Point, which is about 3 miles from Codrington you will find the most beautiful beaches with pink sand.
