If you want to do justice to the food here you have to be non-vegetarian – Lamb meat is consumed in large quantities. Boiled lamb or kashlama, is an Armenian speciality. You can down a meal with some konyak (local brandy) which is rated first class. Of course the stuff prides itself on the fact that Sir Winston Churchill was said to like it better than it’s French cousin. If you like fish – the trout from Lake Sevan is finger licking good. Vegetables and fruits are pretty easy to find, despite the country’s economic hardships. Other dishes and foodstuff typical of the Middle East region like chickpeas, eggplant, and tabouleh are common enough here.
