March – May and September – November is when Tashkent is as its most favourable in terms of the weather. Few tourists however, visit Uzbekistan solely for the pleasures of Tashkent. This period generally speaking is the best time to visit Uzbekistan but if it is the mountains around Tashkent that you are heading for then between July and September is a good time.

Navrus is a good time to be in Tashkent. The New Year is brought in with great celebration over two days around the vernal equinox on the 21st of March. On even numbered years, in end-May beginning-June, Tashkent hosts an international film festival of African, Latin American, Asian and European cinema. Aficionados of good serious cinema may be interested.
