Names are very misleading in South Korea and Busan is no exception - it is also known as Pusan. The second largest city in the country, it is also one of the world’s largest ports. A city of sports enthusiasts, Busan has beautiful seaside scenery and a temperate climate through the year. Climb to the Busan Tower to enjoy a 360º panorama of the city and port. The beaches in Busan are popular with vacationers in summer, particularly Haeundae and Gwangalli. A geological wonder, it is also a tourist destination. Haeundae beach stretches for 2km and is 60,000 sq m wide attracting more than 120, 000 visitors each year. The average water temperature is around 22ºC from June to August. Several resorts have sprung up in the area and there’s a water sports park for enthusiasts. Haeunde also has hot springs located nearby. While you are at the beach, take a cruise around the port and small scenic islands not too far off from the shore.
