Sofia offers a wide range of accommodation facilities including private rooms and family-run hotels. There are a number of very old and elegant hotels, worth the extra you pay for the ambience of the place. An option, especially if you’re on a restricted budget, is to head for one of the small inns or pensiones generally run by families that literally dot the city. Private rooms are a cheaper and more comfortable option when money is a constraint, and travel agencies help with these. Sofia also has a camping site- at Vrana (8 km from the city centre), a quiet and pleasant green area with bungalows.
