Bicycles or cars can be hired in Krakow from one of the rental agencies in town. Make a note of the fact that cars are not permitted in and around the Old Town, and you may have some trouble finding parking space.

Alternatives to hired vehicles include Krakow’s public transport system, which consists of buses and trams. A large number of bus and tram lines crisscross through the city, and both services operate from 5 am to 11 pm. Tickets can be purchased at kiosks or certain shops; buying a ticket aboard a bus will generally be more expensive. All tickets, including tickets for luggage, will have to be punched once you board a bus or tram.

Daily or weekly passes are also available for buses and trams.

Taxis, which are metered, can be hired from a cab rank, hailed on the street or phoned for. Phoning a taxi company for a cab is the cheaper option.
